The Big Book Short Stories
This book was written By Dick King-Smith
This story is about two mice. These mice are married. Their names are Ethel and Hedley. Hedley said, "our Silver Wedding Day is tomorrow." Then Ethel said, " tomorrow - really time flies so quickly." Soon Hedley is going to have a baby. Ethel didn't know that Hedley had blown out like a balloon. Hedley said to Ethel, "didn't you know you where going to be a father?''
"No," said Ethel. Later that day Hedley had her babies, three ( 3 ) boys and three ( 3 ) girls. All that day before Hedley had had her babies Ethel had been thinking what should they call them. Ethel went to the kitchen to get some food for himself and his wife. He found some nice cheese that Hedley likes. When he was still looking he found some blue pellets and a box. He couldn't read that well but he could read a bit and the box said MOUSE POISON, KEEP AWAY FROM DOMESTIC ANIMALS. He took a gulp of a pellet and said, "yum, Hedley will love these." He took some for her.
